Well, hubby has decided to join me in the purpose my passion journey. He has always had a passion to cook and BBQ, but does not know the purpose for that passion. So…I told him to strap on and hold on tight, because we are about to take a flight!
First thing I did, however, was to formalize a business idea that he had been toying around with for a long time, to start a catering business. However, before he started, I had to ensure he had the appropriate legal structure in place for his business, The Southern Smash, LLC.
I am biased to Limited Liability Companies (LLCs) for small scale startups with not much liability in front of them. They are easy and cost effective to form. In fact, in many states, you can form an LLC immediately online and for under $200! After we formed his LLC, we went online to the IRS website to get an Employee Identification Number (EIN) for him. We followed up with filing a DBA for him, local ordinances requirements, and then health inspections… The Southern Smash, LLC was formed!
So, with 3 kids, little startup costs, and little time to get a business started, we did it for hubby. I share with you all of the above, to encourage anyone who is sitting around pondering an idea to turn their passion into an entrepreneurial activity. Stop pondering! Stop daydreaming! Start doing! If we can do it with our crazy busy lives and 3 kids…so can you. Join the purpose my passion journey with us.
